Get involved

Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) and stakeholder engagement are central to the PAWS research programme and are embedded at every stage, from study design through to dissemination.

Meaningful involvement of Experts by Experience—including pregnant and postnatal families and parents with lived experience of specific challenges—alongside NHS and community stakeholders, strengthens access to participants, acceptability of methods, and the relevance and impact of findings.

Ongoing networking and collaboration with NHS and third-sector organisations ensure that the research aligns with health service priorities and is informed by insights into clinical practice and wider social and contextual influences.

Each project is supported by a dedicated Study Advisory Group (SAG), comprising Experts by Experience and representatives from relevant organisations.

These SAGs play a vital role in ensuring real-world relevance and applicability by helping to refine research priorities and questions, advising on outcome measures, and confirming that proposed methods are appropriate and acceptable for the target population.
