What is Perinatal Anxiety?

While a bit of anxiety and worry is expected during major life changes (like having a baby), some people may experience particularly intense or hard-to-manage symptoms that interfere with daily life. If this happens, it is important to seek/access help.

However, we know that most people experiencing perinatal anxiety symptoms will go unrecognised and won’t get the support they need. This might be because they don’t recognise their symptoms, don’t want to see a doctor, don’t have the flexibility to attend appointments, or have limited access to mental health support.

That’s why we created this website. It’s here to give clear information and support for families during the perinatal period, whatever their level of worry or anxiety. Although it is not a substitute for personalised, face-to-face support.

There are two threads of information: one for families and non-clinical care providers, and one for healthcare practitioners. This one is for families!

The website is still in development; therefore, some pages may be incomplete. Bear with us – new content is being added every day!
